Yew Boon Chia

Yew Boon’s career has spanned government, private sector corporate management, equity research, private equity and venture capital investment management, capital raising and strategic business development. He provides strategic advice to organisations seeking capital or strategic partners for private equity, venture capital or real estate projects in geographies such as Australia and Asia. Yew Boon has considerable experience in investment across different asset classes.

While working for the Singapore Government’s Economic Development Board, Yew Boon spent time marketing Singapore as an investment destination to companies in Denmark, Norway, Sweden and Finland. He also oversaw local small and medium manufacturing enterprises within Singapore. During the 1990s, Yew Boon conducted equity research for Asia-based investment banks, managing teams of analysts across various stock markets in Southeast Asia, the Indian sub-continent, Hong Kong and China before he joined GIC Special Investments in 1999. 

Yew Boon was Senior Vice President at GIC Special Investments, the private equity and venture capital subsidiary of one of the world’s largest sovereign wealth funds, Singapore’s GIC. He oversaw European venture capital investments, pan-Asian industry analysis, asset allocation and portfolio companies’ business development. In 2005, Yew Boon became Chief Executive Officer of EasyCall International Ltd (later renamed China Education), an ASX- and SGX-listed company focused on tertiary level education in China and Australia. He concurrently served as Director of Strategic Planning at EasyCall’s parent company, Boustead Singapore, a diversified engineering and IT group.  

Yew Boon is also an Independent Non-Executive Director on the boards of two listed entities from China: Technovator, a Hong Kong-listed Chinese company specialising in energy efficiency technology, and EC World Asset Management, an SGX-listed real estate investment trust consisting of logistics assets in China.
