Dr Michal Meidan is currently Director of the Gas Research Programme and Director of the China Energy Programme at the Oxford Institute for Energy Studies. She is fluent in Hebrew, French and Mandarin.

From 2016 to 2019, she headed cross-commodity China research at market analyst Energy Aspects. Between 2014 and 2016, she was a Director at China Matters, an independent research consultancy providing analysis on the politics of energy in China. Michal was also an analyst at Eurasia Group’s New York Office from 2010 to 2013 and a Senior Analyst at Eurasia Group’s London office from 2013 to 2014.

Between 2005 and 2009, she was a Director of the Energy & Environment Program at Sciences Po’s Asia Centre in Paris. She also taught undergraduate courses on China’s political economy at the Hebrew University in Jerusalem from 2008 to 2010.

Michal regularly provides comments for a wide variety of media outlets and is featured as a speaker at industry conferences.
