Major General Gus McLachlan AO

Major General Gus McLachlan AO served in the Australian Army for 37 years. As Head of Army Modernisation, he led the development of cyberspace, electronic warfare and command and control systems.

Gus was awarded the U.S. Legion of Merit by Secretary James Mattis for his service in the international coalition force in Afghanistan. His final appointment was leading Land Forces Command where he was responsible for 35,000 women and men of the army. He led a major structural transformation of the command in order to field new drone, cyber and electronic warfare capacity.

In the private sector, Gus has fulfilled strategic positions with contruction, defence, cyber and space technology companies. As an Adjunct Professor at Monash University, he advises on national security research and chairs the Advisory Board for Cyber and Data Security at Charles Sturt University.
