Dr Andreas Baumgartner EMBS

Dr Andreas Baumgartner EMBS has more than 25 years of experience at the crossroads of international business, government and law, with a special emphasis on economic development.

Andreas spent nine year’s with McKinsey  & Company’s Public Sector/Economic Development and Travel Infrastructure Logistics practices (2003 – 2012), before joining the Office of Tony Blair/Tony Blair Associates in 2012, where he was in charge of government advisory activities across the Middle East, Central Asia, Eastern Europe and beyond. In 2017/2018, he served as Executive Director of the Dispute Resolution Authority of the Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC). Since then, a significant part of his focus has been on the development of next-generation special economic zones and (semi-)autonomous cities.

Currently, he is the Deputy CEO and a Board Member of Tipolis Pte Ltd as well as a Co-Founder and the Acting CEO of The Metis Institute. In addition, he has continued advising selected senior private and public sector leaders on policy/strategy, economic development, regulatory and governance excellence as well as dispute resolution, via his own firm, StIR StrategyImpactReputation FZE, and serving as a Counsellor to Dragoman.

Geographically, Andreas has particular expertise in the Middle East, Central Asia, (Eastern) Europe and parts of Africa.

Andreas holds two PhDs, one in law and one in social and economic sciences, together with master’s degrees in law, international business administration, European business sciences, and political science.
